Introduction – What is Environmental CSR? (Click here for Video)

Before commencing with the course, I would ask you to watch the following video. While there is endless amounts of information available to help teach the meaning and importance of Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Sustainability, it can be very helpful to see environmental CSR in action. This video has been chosen because it shows how the measures Burnbrae Farms - a leading producer of eggs in Canada is taking to have a positive impact on the environment. It is a fantastic real-life example of the changes we can make to become more environmentally sustainable. It features different people within the levels of the company and shows that Corporate Social Responsibility should be evident at every level of production. This module is beneficial to managers, directors and employees of every level and so is aimed at everyone involved in businesses and the workplace. Environmental responsibility can be defined as the belief that organisations should behave in an environmentally responsible and friendly way as possible. (Stobierski, 2021).

This is something that should filter down to all levels of an organisation, as the video shows. It is something that should be understood by all employees of all jobs, because it is fighting against problems that affect us in every area of our lives and at risk of sounding dramatic, will threaten our very existence.

It is something that we should be mindful of in our daily lives and not something that we should think is a box-ticking exercise for the workplace. However, this module is about environmental CSR and we are going to take a deeper look at how we can be environmentally responsible in the workplace.
