Teachers can deliver lessons such as peace education and help students develop a global understanding of war. In this way, students can learn to see different perspectives and become less vulnerable to manipulation. In addition, teachers can provide lessons on human rights, including what abuse is and what actions to take if students experience it or know someone who does.

Introducing local and international organizations that offer support can help students feel more emotionally safe, as they will already have some knowledge and practical tools in mind to respond to situations involving physical or emotional abuse.

At my school, we already include subjects such as peace education. We also have clearly structured school rules and strong child safeguarding policies that both teachers and students must follow to address and prevent these issues.

I believe the most effective way to advocate for safe schools in this context is to first understand the local situation and then establish clear rules to protect students. It is equally important to teach these lessons so students know how to respond when they face challenges and how to support others.

Finally, if we extend these lessons beyond the school and into the wider community, I believe it will increase awareness and help reduce harm and crisis over time.
