From my perspective, teachers play a very important role in creating safe spaces through education. They are often the first ones to give emotional and psychological support for students who may have experienced trauma or in situations of conflicts and crises. What the teachers must do is to gain trust from the students so that in times of crises, or in times of peace, the students will feel safe just by the presence of that one teacher. In many communities, schools may have some guidelines to protect learners and teachers. However, these guidelines are not always strong or fully enforced, especially in areas with limited resources and conflicts. The best way to advocate for safe schools is through community awareness and cooperation. Communities, teachers, and students need to work together. Governments and organizations should be encouraged to support policies that keep schools safe, such as the Safe Schools Declaration. To ensure the safety of schools and their communities, funding plays a huge role.
