How can teachers create safe spaces?

To create a safe place at the school for the students and to make them feel safe physically and psychologically, a teacher can do so many things.

First of all, teachers can make the rules both for themselves and for the students. For example, students should respect each other, teachers should not yell at the students, and teachers should not blame the students alone for what happened. There could be more rules, and rules are very important. Without rules both teachers and students could face so many problems.

Moreover, teachers should also meet the students' parents and work with them. They could talk to the parents about the situation of the students, and they could also ask them about what they see about their children coming to this school. Does the school need any improvement or not? Teacher could also ask for the suggestions from the parent. It is about working together. It is important that teachers and parents should work together to make the students feel safe physically and psychologically.

Teachers could also work with the local health care group. If something happens to the students, they could call for help easily. The teachers also should ask the local health care group about the environment of the school. For example, the water and the food of the school.
