Along my teaching experience for two years, I practice to include silent reading time for 15 minutes every morning before the class starts. It was really helpful to be able to concentrate the following lesson. It helps them to get refresh and calm to focus on lessons. After starting with silent reading session, I always include for 15 minutes back up activities to be active and have more engagement with students. It helps when students get less interest and less energy, the activities wake students up. Those activities can be fun or related to lessons as well. For example, I called that " vocab description", mean they have to describe the word without saying that word. It is fun because they have to compete against the other group.
