creating supportive learning environments

Based on my experience, asking questions to the students is one way that helps creating supportive learning environments. If you do not ask any questions to your students and only trying to finish your lesson, there will be no benefits for your students. Sometimes you might need some activities to maintain your students focusing on the lessons and sometimes you might give time to your students for dicussions or group work. It can be a better way to support your students and they can feel more comfortable in the class.
