Reflecting on a recent session where you were the teacher, can you identify how you used the learning types to create a balanced learning experience for your students? How well did it work? Are there ways you could involve more learning types, or a better combination, in your teaching?

When I taught violin, I used acquisition by showing students the notes and finger positions. Then encouraged inquiry by letting them ask why certain techniques worked. We had discussion about how different bowing styles change the sound, and they got practice by playing short pieces. I let them to do collaboration when they played in pairs to listen and adjust together, and ended with a small production where they performed a short melody to show what they learned. This combination worked well and I could give more time for inquiry so they explore the instrument more on their own.
