My name is Saw Joseph Moe, and I am from Ayeyawady Division, Myanmar. I grew up in my village until the age of fourteen and completed Grade 9 there. In 2021, because of the military coup and my involvement in the Civil Disobedience Movement, I was forced to move to Karen State for my safety and to further my education. I finished Grade 11 at Karen Mission High School, which is under the curriculum of the Karen Education and Culture Department (KECD), in a remote village in Karen State. The next year, conflict intensified in the region and forced me to move to Mae La Refugee Camp in Thailand. There, I graduated Grade 12, which is under the curriculum of the Karen Refugee Committee Educational Entity, and Pu Taw Memorial Junior College, specialising in teaching, in 2025. Currently, I am doing my studies in the Minmahaw Higher Education Program (MHEP) and have completed the GED exam. Throughout my life, I have attended various schools. That's why I have many different experiences of schooling and learning. One of the best teaching and learning environments I experienced is in MHEP. The teaching system here in MHEP is about memorizing, but it is also about thinking critically and logically, which is good for students. In addition, there are some other courses and training apart from school, such as a Computer course, Peace Education Training and now teacher training.
