I believe that education can be a victim, a perpetrator, a liberator, and a peacebuilder.
Education is a victim because when there is war or conflict in a community or country, schools are often forced to close. Teachers and students cannot come to school, and learning stops. In this situation, students have to pause their education, and teachers may lose their jobs.
Education can also be a perpetrator of violence. If schools or organizations are biased or narrow-minded, they can easily influence young people. Teachers or institutions may present false or biased information to make students believe certain ideas. This can be for political or religious purposes.
Education is a liberator because it gives students knowledge and hope. It helps them become more open-minded and develop critical thinking skills. Students learn to understand what is right and wrong and gain a better understanding of politics and economics.
Finally, education is a peacebuilder. When students learn to think critically and recognize bias, they are less likely to be manipulated. This leads to greater understanding, tolerance, and peace within the community.
