Space for listening to learners

Do you have activities or routines that you use regularly to create space for listening to learners?

Yes, when i was a teacher I usually do warmer  before the class starting. It can be any activity such as asking how they feel, Free writing and after that share in the class if the feel comfortable. One important things we usually did we didn't dive directly to the lesson, we came up with hook to test the students knowledge about what they know about the topic that we are going to teach. Therefore, we know that which students will do better in the class for this lesson and focus more on those  who is not really know about the topic.

We learn the students more by asking questions, observe in the class. We also give them option to let them choose what they want to do first. Doing this things make the students feel respected and included in the class as well as building strong relationship and trust between students and teacher.
