Challenging behavior

Sometimes, challenging behavior may be a sign of something deeper, not just a problem in the classroom.
When a student behaves in a difficult way, I can try to reflect instead of reacting immediately. For example, a student who is often quiet or distracted, maybe feeling stress or have problems at home. Instead of focusing only on the behavior, I can try to understand the reason behind it.
I may talk with the student, listen carefully, and also ask other teachers if they notice similar things. Since we do not have home visits, this can still help me learn more about the student’s situation. In this way, I can respond with more understanding and support, not only discipline.
