Challenging behaviour

  • Did you respond to the behaviour only or reflect further and become curious about the ‘story’ behind their behaviour?
  • What did you do to understand and learn more about their story?
  • Read other people’s posts on the discussion forum and respond with any suggestions or ideas based on your experience.

From this story, I better understand why home visits to the children are necessary to better understand the students' situation. In the video, sister Anne said we have to choose the students based on their performance in the school, including their grade, interaction with the teacher, and other students. I learned that we will better understand them and support them with the help they need. I also remember the time I was teaching back in Karen, one of the students, by looking at her performance and action, she seemed okay, but in reality, it is not like that. After I came across her house, seeing and knew about all the harsh situations she has experienced. I do not just feel sad, but I try to help by taking more care of her with words and some financial support, which helps her to return to school on time again.
