As I mentioned before, I often begin my lessons with a warm-up activity where students choose an emotion card and explain why they selected it. This helps them express their feelings and reflect on their emotional state.
In addition to this, I use a variety of activities such as free writing, breathing exercises, five-minute meditation, and simple physical games that actively engage students. These activities are not random—they serve a clear purpose. They allow me, as a teacher, to observe students closely and understand their emotional needs. By doing this, I can identify who may need extra support or attention.
We also spend time in quiet activities, sometimes connecting with nature. For example, students sit quietly and focus on noticing small sounds around them. This helps them become more aware of their surroundings, something they often overlook in their daily lives.
These practices are simple but effective. They build emotional awareness, improve focus, and create a calmer and more supportive classroom environment.
