Challenging behaviour

As a volunteer experiences, I tried not to respond to the behavior only but also to understand the story behind it. For example, if a child seemed withdrawn or angry, I asked gently about their feelings, listened carefully, and noticed if something at home, or in their community might be affecting them.

To better know, I also talked to teachers, other volunteers. Normally, we went and communicate with their family members and seemed their family situation.  Being curious about the story behind helped me to respond, and understand with empathy and support rather than only discipline.
