  • Do you think that offering counselling is part of a teacher’s role, or is it a specialist role?- I think offering basic emotional support is part of a teacher role, as teachers should listen, care, and create a safe environment for learners. However, professional counselling should be done by trained specialists, especially in serious cases. Teachers should support students but also refer them to experts when needed.
  • Are there any risks involved in offering this support to learners?-Yes, teachers may not have professional training, which can lead to misunderstandings or giving incorrect advice. They may also face emotional stress, boundary issues, and challenges with confidentiality. Therefore, teachers should provide basic support but refer students to specialists when necessary.
