In my experience, not all of those principle are not able to apply equally. For example in my hometown we don't even have school, we just teach the students under the trees or in somewhere safe. For these kind of places where several wars are happening we can only focus on the lessons. But we also know that those  principles are important and try to apply as much as we can, even if we cannot apply all of those principles equally.
