Over to you (discussion)

In my view, offering counselling is part of a teacher’s role. Teachers do not only stand in front of the classroom and teach lessons. They play an important role in guiding students to develop good character, discipline, and moral values. In addition, they always try to improve the classroom environment to support students’ well being. For these reasons, teachers should also help students with their emotional needs.

However, there are some risks. Teachers are not professional counsellors, so they may not know how to handle serious emotional problems. In cases of trauma or mental health issues. Also, it can be stressful for teachers if they take on too many emotional problems from students.
