  1. Propose an activity that you can use in your classroom to create a safe and emotionally supportive environment for learning;
  2. Describe when you would use the activity (e.g. at the beginning of the school term; at the end of the school day etc.);
  3. Explain how the activity helps students learn and also creates a safe and supportive learning environment;
  4. Explain how using the activity can help the teacher manage the classroom or the learning space.

To create a safe and emotionally supportive environment for learning, I would plan to use games during orientation week to help students get to know each other and feel comfortable in the classroom.

First, I would start with the game “Two Truths and One Lie” when students introduce themselves. This activity helps students learn more about each other in a fun and relaxed way.

Next, I would organize a BINGO game where students have to walk around the classroom and ask their classmates questions, such as their talents, hobbies, or places they have been. This activity encourages students to communicate with many classmates by improving their communication skills.

I would use these activities at the beginning of the school term, especially during orientation week, to help students feel less shy, nervous, or unfamiliar with each other. These games help students feel more relaxed, safe, and connected to their classmates.

These activities help students learn because when they feel safe and emotionally supported, they are more confident to speak, ask questions, and participate in class activities. It also helps create a positive classroom environment where students respect and support each other.

For the teacher, these activities help with classroom management because the teacher can observe students’ personalities, friendships, and behavior during the games. It also helps the teacher build a good relationship with student.
