Once upon a time, there was a witch who had a big problem—she kept losing her wand.

Her house was a mess, with shoes, books, hats, and who-knows-what scattered everywhere.

One day, she even lost her wand in the swamp.

A naughty frog found it and hopped away with it, refusing to give it back unless she kissed him!

This went on until the witch threw up her hands and stomped away.

One day, Flug landed on the windowsill of a tall apartment building, where a 12-year-old girl was doing her homework.

She looked up, saw Flug, and said, "Aw, what a pretty bird!"

How to Use These New Spanish Words This Week:
The "Flug" Echo Game: Just like Flug repeats the witch, you be the "Witch" and have your child be "Flug." Say a Spanish word, and they have to squawk it back to you in a funny parrot voice. Start with: "¡Loro!", "¡Varita!", or "¡Sombrero!"
Start by speaking slowly. Then, to make it more challenging, speak faster and faster. If they can't keep up or muddle up a word when they echo it then they lose—laugh, tickle them, and start another round.
Magic Wand (Varita) Search: Since the witch is always losing her wand, hide a stick or a wooden spoon and say, "¿Dónde está la varita?" (Where is the wand?). Have your child search for it.
Window Bird-Watching: Sit by the ventana (window) and look for birds. Every time you see one, point and say, "¡Mira! Un pájaro."
Draw the Magic Chaos: Direct a drawing session of the funny things Flug changed:
- "Draw a giant mushroom house. Dibuja una casa de hongo gigante."
- "Draw a pumpkin with eyes. Dibuja una calabaza con ojos."
- "Draw a girl with pink wings. Dibuja una niña con alas rosas."

Art Instruction Examples:

Word Play (The "XELAS" Spell): Give your child a "wand" and let them cast spells on their toys. They must say the magic word "¡XELAS!" after the Spanish word.
"Turn the bear into a frog! ¡Rana! ¡XELAS!"
"Turn the car into a stone! ¡Piedra! ¡XELAS!"
The "XELAS" Enchantment Race: Place a bowl of treats (the "Witch's Treasure") on a table at one end of the room. Have the kids start at the opposite side. You stand near the bowl, holding a wand (or a wooden spoon/stick). As the "Witch," you will cast spells in Spanish to control how they move toward the treasure:
The Stone Spell: Shout "¡Piedra!" (Stone!). The kids must freeze instantly for 10 seconds. If they move, they have to take three steps back!
The Frog Spell: Shout "¡Rana!" (Frog!). The kids can only move toward the treats by hopping like a frog.
The Bird Spell: Shout "¡Pájaro!" (Bird!). The kids must flutter their arms like wings (alas), take little hops, and "fly" toward the table.
The Fairy Spell: Shout "¡Hada!" (Fairy!). They must twirl and dance (bailar) gracefully toward the bowl on tiptoes.
Reverse Roles: Once they reach the treasure and get a treat, let them be the Witch! They have to say the Spanish word correctly to "enchant" you.
The "Mirror Mirror" (Escuchar): Stand in front of a mirror with your child. Practice "listening" (escuchar) and imitating faces. Say, "¡Feliz!" (Happy) and make a big, exaggerated smile together, or "¡Triste!" (Sad) and make a pouty face.
