Once upon a time, in a peaceful land of Humbadum, where humans lived happy lives in the lovely countryside, there was a problem.

Not a big problem for the humans, mind you, but a very big problem for a certain group of creatures known as the Booger Goblins.

Now, these weren't just ordinary goblins, nor were they related to Boogerman in any way—let's make that clear.

The Booger Goblins were outcasts.

Some goblins had noses that kept dripping streams of slimy, drippy green boogers like a very unpleasant fountain.

Others had noses that popped out hard, round yellow boogers that they could flick or snort like bullets.

Since no one would sell them any, they had no choice but to wipe their noses on whatever was nearby—which, in their case, meant the walls, floors, and ceilings of their home: the Snotswamp Caves.

One fateful evening, four Booger Goblin friends sat around their dinner table in the caves, moaning and complaining about their miserable lives.

Chapter Two

Several nights later, under the cover of darkness, the four goblins crept into the quiet, sleeping town of Humville.

They slithered through the narrowest alleys, sticking to the shadows, their breath fogging up in the cool night air.

The mayor's office loomed before them, the entire building dark, empty, and silent.

Meanwhile, Officer Braxely, the town's bravest policeman, was driving home along a quiet, dark side street when something caught his eye.

A suspicious green trail zigzagging across the road.

The Booger Goblins eagerly accepted the offer to work for a year in the factory instead of being punished with a year in jail.

That very morning, the Booger Goblins were sent to the abandoned hankie factory (under strict supervision, of course) and taught how to make hankies.

How to Use These New Spanish Words This Week:

The "¡Qué asco!" Challenge: Every time you see something slightly messy (a spill, a muddy shoe, a dirty dish), point at it and say, "¡Qué asco!" Encourage your child to say it back with a funny, disgusted face.

Goblin Finger-Painting: Use green, yellow, and white washable paint. Tell your child they are a "Duende Moco" and they are decorating their cueva (a large piece of paper). Use the Spanish color words while you "slime" the paper: "Verde," "Amarillo," and "Blanco."

The "Sticky Snozo" Wall Climb: Put pieces of painter's tape (sticky side out) on a door or wall at different heights. Give your child "booger balls" (crumpled up green paper or green pom-poms). They have to see if they can make the "boogers" stick to the wall like Snozo’s glue. Shout "¡Pégalo!" (Stick it!).

Mucus Mogo’s Target Practice: Set up six cups. Give your child "booger bullets" (soft yellow foam balls or rolled-up yellow socks). They have to tilt their head back, "aim" their nose , and "sneeze" the balls into the targets. Every time they hit one, yell "¡PUM!"

The Mayor’s Vault Heist: Hide 10 "handkerchiefs" (scraps of fabric or actual tissues) around the room. Play this game after dark, without any lights on. Your child has to sneak through the "town" without being caught by el policía (you!). If you shine a flashlight on them, they have to freeze! They win when they collect all the pañuelos.

"Cierra el Grifo" (Shut the Faucet): Pretend your child is Drippy Dripo. You are the factory boss. When you say "¡Gotea!" (Drip!), they have to wiggle their fingers down like rain. When you say "¡Limpia!" (Clean!), they have to grab a pañuelo and pretend to scrub the air.

Coloring in: Use the printable coloring sheet found in the activities section and instruct your child in English and Spanish on how to color it in.

Art Instruction Examples:

• Paint the goblin's nose green. Pinta la nariz del duende de color verde.

Your child plays the part of a Booger goblin.

Use old tissue boxes to create a "Handkerchief Factory." Decorate the boxes with flores and estrellas (stars). Have your child "work" in the factory by folding tissues neatly and putting them inside the boxes. Say, "¡Buen trabajo!" (Good job!).

Together with them, count each hankie they fold in English and Spanish. After every ten, give them a treat.

A Quick Tip for Parents:
In Spanish, once you hit 30 (Treinta), the numbers follow a very simple pattern: Number Name + "y" (and) + Single Digit.
Example: Treinta y cinco (Thirty and five).

This makes it much easier for kids to "guess" the next number once they learn the tens!

The "Parent Hack": Turning Chores into a Spanish Mission
The following activity is a brilliant way to transform routine household tasks into a high-stakes, rewarding mission. By framing cleaning as a "Promoción" (Promotion) or an "Aumento de sueldo" (Pay Raise), kids stop seeing chores as work and start seeing them as a fun way to "level up" their status as Goblin Executives.

Not only are they learning the Spanish words for common household items and numbers, but they are also learning the value of contributing to the home in an engaging, game-like environment!

 

The Official Goblin Promotion Plan:

Level 1: The Hankie Factory (Pañuelos)
Start with folding the tissues. This is the "Entry Level" job. Use the counting list from Uno to Cincuenta to track their progress.

Level 2: The Towel Specialist (Toallas) — "The Promotion!"
Once they master the tissues, tell them the Mayor has noticed their hard work and promoted them to the Toallas (Towels) department.

The Task: Folding hand towels or washcloths.

The "Pay Raise": A slightly bigger treat or a special sticker on their Cheque de Pago (Paycheck).

The Spanish: "¡Felicidades! Ahora trabajas con toallas." (Congratulations! Now you work with towels.)

Level 3: The Laundry Master (Ropa Limpia) — "The Executive Level"
The final step in their career! They are now in charge of the Ropa Limpia (Clean Clothes).

The Task: Matching socks (finding the parejas) or folding their own t-shirts.

The Reward: They get to pick the movie or the next story!

The Spanish: "Eres el jefe de la ropa." (You are the boss of the clothes.)
