    • Welcome to Supporting Adolescent Girls' Education (SAGE)

An accelerated learning programme for out-of- school learners

      SAGE project logo

The SAGE project in Zimbabwe was designed to support out-of-school girls like 12-year old Yollanda pictured above.  Yollanda lives in an informal settlement on the outskirts of Harare and was accepted onto the SAGE accelerated learning programme.

Working with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE) in Zimbabwe, the SAGE project supported out-of-school girls aged between 10-19, including girls with disabilities, who had never enrolled in school or who had left school before completing basic education.  SAGE has helped the girls acquire literacy, numeracy and English skills to help them get back into education, into skills training, into employment, or to set up their own businesses.

The SAGE two-year learning programme is now available to all educators via the package of resources that can be accessed on these pages.

We hope you find the resources helpful in supporting the learners with whom you work. Below is a screencast you can watch to familiarise yourself with the resources available:

SAGE project is a collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education of the Government of Zimbabwe, funded by UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office through the Girls’ Education Challenge .

All the materials are Open Educational Resources (OER), and with the exception of named third party contributions, can be adapted for your own educational context.
