    • Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture and Precision Aquaculture

      In this course, you will learn about Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) and Precision Aquaculture. It describes the concept of IMTA, its benefits, challenges, and the practises and technological tools to successfully manage and monitor an IMTA farm. This knowledge is widened with key aspects of the sustainability, and socio-economic impact of IMTA.
      The course is split into 4 modules:

      • Introduction: Aquaculture and IMPAQT project.
      • The concept of IMTA.
      • IMTA sustainability and economics.
      • Precision Aquaculture.
      This course is based on the work of the H2020 IMPAQT project, and aimed at those with an interest in aquaculture and sustainable aquaculture practises, aquaculture workers and producers, aquaculture regulators and policy makers, and aquaculture technology users, providers, and manufacturers. Throughout this course, the project team shares their knowledge, results, and outputs achieved.

      • This course was developed as part of the EU's Horizon2020 IMPAQT project. To get an overview of the work of the IMPAQT project, have a look at this introductory project video.


  • Course learning outcomes

    By successfully engaging with this course the learner will:

    • Understand the concept of IMTA.
    • Learn about the benefits of IMTA and challenges to implementing it. 
    • Have a familiarity with the practises of operating an IMTA farm. 
    • Enrich their knowledge with experience of researchers and other IMTA farmers. 
    • Gain understanding of the sustainability, ecosystem services and economics of IMTA.
    • Understand the importance on environmental monitoring and reliable information to operate successfully.
    • Have been introduced to the IMPAQT platform.
