PDP: Academic Programme Step 4

In this Step you begin to build your new course. You will select some material from a course in Group B, and together with a selection of material from the course A that you studied in Step 1 you will start to design a small piece of learning for 1st year undergraduates which should be no longer than 6 hours study.

Tasks for this Step

  • Select an OER course from Group B and review it.
  • Reflect on the course you studied from Group A and think about how to use a part of that course, with some content from your Group B course.
  • Decide how to blend the two parts of the courses:

    • one part from Group A course
    • one part from Group B course.

    This will be your new course. It should offer the learner new knowledge as well as some skills practice.

  • Create a title for your new course.
  • Draft your Learning Outcomes for your new course.
  • Reinforce and assess your understanding in the Step 4 Quiz.

APP strand: Communities of practice: Learning from and supporting other teachers

Tasks for this Step

  • Reflect on what you have learnt from your colleagues and how you help other teachers with their professional practice.
  • Make a teaching diary entry about your professional learning in your teaching community.
