Resilience and Organisational Learning

View

Resilient citizen science initiatives are not defined by stability alone, but by their capacity to adapt, learn, and respond to changing conditions (Fraisl et al., 2022).

This often involves developing practices that support organisational learning. Projects may benefit from documenting processes so that knowledge is not lost over time (Wigboldus et al., 2016), distributing leadership responsibilities to reduce dependence on key individuals, and creating opportunities for reflection and feedback. Revisiting underlying assumptions and adapting strategies in response to new insights can also strengthen long-term resilience.

In this sense, resilience is less about maintaining a fixed structure and more about sustaining the ability to evolve thoughtfully while preserving coherence and purpose.
