Course learning outcomes
After studying this course, you should be able to:
describe the generic components of the traditional training lifecycle of the training needs analysis, or TNA (sometimes called a training needs assessment), design and development, delivery and evaluation
critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of the traditional training-based approach, and the main implications of the shift from training to learning
explain what we mean by coaching and mentoring and how they can support learning
This course provides an excellent introduction to workplace learning, coaching and mentoring. The content is well structured, practical and supported by realistic coaching scenarios that demonstrate how effective coaching conversations are conducted. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on active listening, rapport building, goal setting and the GROW model, as well as the distinction between training, learning, coaching and mentoring. The reflective activities encouraged me to think critically about applying these concepts in real organisational settings rather than simply learning the theory. I would highly recommend this course to HR, Learning & Development and people management professionals who want to strengthen their coaching and workplace learning skills.
