    • General

      • Welcome to Responsible Scaling in Citizen Science: Building Strong Foundations!

This training course is Part A of the CROPS Training Series: Responsible Scaling in Citizen Science, a collection of practical learning resources designed to support citizen science practitioners in strengthening the impact, sustainability, and long-term development of their initiatives. This training focuses on the internal foundations needed for responsible scaling, including readiness, adaptability, governance, ethics, organisational capacity, and sustainability. Together with Training B: Building Influence, Partnerships, and Institutional Alignment, which explores external engagement, partnerships, communication, and institutional relationships, the series provides a comprehensive framework for navigating the opportunities and challenges associated with scaling citizen science in diverse contexts.

  • Course learning outcomes

By the end of Training A, participants will be able to assess their initiative's readiness for scaling, identify strengths and gaps in organisational capacity, governance, and sustainability, and apply responsible scaling principles to support long-term resilience, adaptability, and impact. Participants will also be better equipped to make informed, context-sensitive decisions about how and when to pursue different scaling pathways.
