Course

This course is designed by Dr Ayman Yasin (Princess Sumaya University for Technology in Amman, Jordan). The target audience are students who wish to learn translation techniques. The course covers some basic theoretical principles in the art of translation from Arabic to English and vice versa, methods of translation, translation tools, problems involved in translation and analysis of translated texts in a variety of texts from various fields of knowledge.

The course will mainly offer practice in translating a variety of texts from various fields of knowledge: economy; trade unions/federations, global economic crisis, International Financial Institutions, stock markets, globalization, privatization and restructuring, banking and finance etc. The course aims at equipping students with the skills of practical translation from Arabic into English and vice versa. Special emphasis is laid on developing students` skills of speed, accuracy, and fidelity.
