The Neolithic age started in the middle east in 8000 b.c.when men started to raise their animals and doing agriculture. This fact made a changing in art. The Neolithic man starts doing instruments that adapt to their needs.

We can find monuments of the Neolithic age which are called the megaliths because those monuments were formed by huge blocks of stone.

Those megaliths add a religious fundament. 

The monuments were called dolmens which have the function of thumbs for the dead.

Cromlechs were built with the function of doing religious ceremonies. It consisted of several stones which were orientated to the point of the horizon where the sun borns in the day of the summer solstice and it was destined to ritual practices of a solar cult. That was called animism.

In primitive society, the ceremonies had a central element which is the mask. The fascination with the mask keeps until today.

Compared to sculpture the roll of painting was secondary. The technique was largely known but in most regions painting was applied only in wood sculptures or the human body and sometimes with complicates ornamental motives.
