egyptian art
History starts in Egypt with the invention of writing in 5000 b.c.
The thumbs:
When we talk about the attitude of Egyptians relatively to the existence of life after death, an attitude that is expressed in the thumbs, it is important to underline that the reference is not with the common man but to the pharaonic court. The sepulchres of these high functionaries are found generally in the immediate neighbourhood of the funerary monuments of the pharaohs, which configuration and furniture reflect. only the prevalidated class had access to those kinds of thumbs. Those thumbs were called the mastabas or private thumbs.

The necropoles were an assemblage of pyramids and another kind of monuments for great religious rites.
The pyramids of Giza were on top in the 4th dynasty all of the pyramids have fair faces initially revested of stone layers. The sphinx near the second inferior pyramid was sculpted in the living rock which is maybe a personification most impressive of the royalty divine more than the pyramids

Egyptian art obeys to canons, which means the figures were always done in profile with the eye in a frontal position and the feet on a side position as the picture below.
