Adapting Your Message Without Losing Integrity

Citizen science projects frequently communicate with audiences that may draw on different forms of evidence, communication, and expertise when interpreting information or making decisions.

Choose one recent example of project communication (for example, a presentation, funding application, report, or public meeting).

Reflect:

  • Who was the intended audience?

  • What forms of evidence, information, or communication appeared most important in that context?

  • What did you emphasise?

  • What was left out?

  • Did communication remain faithful to the project’s values and realities?

Now consider: How might we communicate differently while remaining transparent and authentic?
