Hello!
(Hopefully I'm doing this right.)
I was struck by the concept of "knowledge as a public good." Having struggled in the past to purchase my own textbooks, and now watching many of my students struggle, Open Education for me is about inclusivity and accessibility.
Crystal,
I had the pleasure of listening to a wonderful speaker - Robin DeRosa [http://robinderosa.net/about/] - at a conference recently. She touched on many many important ideas - one of which was "knowledge as a public good" . Here is a link to a 5:00 talk she gave (not the same one I saw): [https://youtu.be/IpOP6RZXzXQ]
Hello Crystal, you're totally doing this right. Nice to meet you. I love the knowledge is a public good concept. My love for it as a concept stems from the work of an economist, Josef Stiglitz, his words about it can be found here: http://wiki.p2pfoundation.net/Knowledge_as_a_Global_Public_Good
Nice to have you with us!
