New to Open Communities

Hello,

I am just beginning on my journey to open communities. I am sort of familiar with Twitter, but don't post anything. I do use Discussion Boards in my courses, so that to me is a form of open community and I enjoy interacting with the students in that way. My associate dean just last week sent me a link to https://openstax.org/ as well and I'm beginning to look through that resource as well. So much to learn!!

I really enjoy trading ideas about anything to do with the classroom. I currently teach in a post secondary position, however, was an elementary teacher for over 15 years before this. I taught in New Zealand for 15 years and am now 'home' again in Ontario. I always felt that the staff meetings, courses and workshops were the best part of teaching. Being in the classroom can be so isolating. I'm enjoying this opportunity to 'meet' with others!

Thank you,

Julie
