Perhaps because my father is a chef, I frequently connect with food metaphors! When I think about OERs, I think about having ingredients at our disposal that enable each of us to create unique educational 'dishes' that are satisfying and reflect our own personalities, contexts and flavours.
There is another connection that I make between OEP and home cooking. When we're preparing food, we're generally doing so to nourish ourselves and a community (family, friends, neighbours). When we commit to OEP, we are sharing our work to nourish and sustain a broad group of educators and learners. It is such a powerful means of extending ourselves and of caring for one another.
As I move through this MOOC, I am interested in further exploring how I and my colleagues at Niagara College can support the NC community in gaining an understanding of and practicing OEP.
Thanks for the opportunity!

Welcome aboard Natasha, great analogy indeed. Especially the nourishing ourselves and our community. Open Education has tremendous potential to nourish.
