I feel very isolated in my practice as the only math/science educator at our college campus in the Academic Upgrading program. I am responsible for resource and curriculum decisions and classroom delivery in a self-study, self-paced environment. I am experimenting with OER for my ACE College/Apprenticeship Mathematics course.
Being new to the idea of Community of practice I am apprehensive and unsure of what I have to contribute. I hope to receive contacts with educators in the adult education community working with grade 12 equivalency college programs. I am interested in practices and resources available in the open realm.
My contribution at this time is to share OER that I have discovered.

Thank you Rob, for sharing your resources and being willing to test the waters with this course and potential CoP. Sometimes a good contribution for a CoP is bringing your very real challenges to the table. Many educators and professional support staff love a good problem to explore and help solve. You might find your experiences resonate with others, which helps them not feel as isolated, a good two-way street.
Rob,
We teach the same thing. Come on over to MyOpenMath for another open community.
Hi Rob,
I also teach math and science in an Academic Upgrading program. I am on campus 2 days a week, but also teach in the community twice a week. Being a nomadic educator has its challenges. I'm interested in exploring OER to see how it can be used in the ACE program.
I must admit I'm feeling very overwhelmed at the sheer quantity of resources available, and I'm not really sure where to begin. I don't feel that I have anything to offer at this time, but I hope that will change as I work my way through the lessons.
