Thanks for the excellent blog post. It's very true that technology and resources are essential elements of the growth of distance education and e-learning. Even early correspondence courses delivered by mail required printed lessons and books and a postal service infrastructure. In the open learning context, of course, opening up both technology and resources fundamentally changes the possible uses of these technologies and resources, and allows for their ongoing expansion and evolution without the necessity of one person or institution doing it all.
