I work in a university library. Specifically, I handle copyright and course reserves. I also have a background in education (I thought I wanted to be a teacher before finding my home in libraries.). I definitely believe in open education. A large component of my job is helping faculty create their own courseware using journal articles, websites and book chapters instead of traditional textbooks. This saves students money, allows for multiple perspectives/diversity of sources and thought. To me, there's just nothing not to love about it. I'd like to see our library get into OERs next to help our professors go that route, so I am trying to learn everything I can about them and about how to do that.
To that end I run a Twitter chat called #LISprochat and for one session last year we talked about OERs and Libraries, and this was the resource we used as our inspiration for that chat: The Open Movement: What Libraries Can Do http://d-scholarship.pitt.edu/26315/
