Minding the Gap: Day 6 Tips

As a librarian, I was familiar with much of what was covered in today's module, but I did learn a few new things. :)

The term x -term y is a super useful operator to know and it's new to me. I definitely had a chuckle when trying out the 'six degrees of Kevin Bacon' as well.

Also, a very helpful list of repositories here. Open Culture is really cool, and I really like that it includes all different types of materials (MOOCs, textbooks, movies, eBooks, etc). Hope to have an opportunity to use it in the the future.

Peggy has some really amazing talent in terms of savvy searching and good analogies to make tricky topics easier to try. I'm very lucky to have her as a colleague and friend!

And what we could all learn from Jenni would have to be stuffed in the most massive of massive open online courses!

Hi Lydia:

Yes Open Culture is quite kool. Just make sure you have time to get lost and meander!

I see a Western email. Do you work at one of Western's libraries?

That's where I MLISed, taught, and also worked in the public library system. Fond memories of London.

Take care,

peg.

Hi Peggy,

Sorry for the delay with my reply- turns out I wasn't subscribed to receive forum messages (fixed now).

Small world! I did my MLIS at Western (graduated in Fall 2016) and also have fond memories of London. I'm actually currently based in Edmonton and am working for the University of Alberta as a Public Services Librarian- I just still use my Western email for most things. It's nice to "meet" you. :)
