NICE Guideline reflection

Having read the NICE guideline recommendations for MDT working, I found they provide a structure for realising the expectations of appropriate service provision for people with MND, as well as promoting/highlighting and articulating the range of specialist involvement and specific outcomes that may require input at many stages of the MND journey. There is flexibility in the guidelines to allow for adapting services to the individual, by completing assessments and reviews either in the community or in hospital, and having the frequency of reviews be dependent on the individuals' condition and progression.

In reality, from reading other participants' accounts, there are still challenges in effective MDT working, however having forums like this one allow for sharing of experiences and therefore learning to improve practice.
