At this stage in my learning more about the many resources available through OER, I would be safe to say I would use the adopting method of bringing resources into my courses.
Since this is still so new for me, I would want to be safe and adopting what I know is legal and available while ensuring the content fits the needs of the students and content required of each course.
Later one once I feel more comfortable in OER, I would like to work on learning how to adapt some of the content to better fit our current course content.
Thanks!
Hi Kelli,
This is exactly the same as my thinking! I'm wading into the OER world slowly!
Glad to hear someone else is at the same stage!
Thanks,
Julie
I agree with taking small steps of using OER - for numerous reasons. Open pedagogy is a continuum of choices and at times for many reasons it serves the overall interest of both instructor and students to have a successful learning experience with a blend of open and copy-right restricted resources. Jumping into the deep pool of OER could lead to frustrations on both sides and OER done well, albeit part of a course rather than an entire course, builds a sense of success and therefore greater likelihood of more OER sophistication in the future.
