Tutor Training

As Retention Coordinator, a faculty member assigned to advise student services, one of my activities is to conduct training for our tutors. We are in the process of revamping the training materials from a manual to an online space. College policy requires that I first do this in our learning management system but I am considering ways that tutors can be curators in the wild through Padlets and Google Docs. In the month of July, I will be inviting our Spring/Summer tutors to join me in testing these ideas.

Great idea Irene. What might have some value is well is capturing video, audio, or text stories from "near peers" tutors that have gone through the training process and have been working a semester or two. What did they learn that wasn't in the training that they can share with new tutors? If they're willing to participate!
