Exhibiting: Principle 7 Creating dialogue
Principle 7: Art for Action will create dialogue across and between generations and communities through exhibiting the artivist works and asking for responses to it.
There will be three opportunities for exhibiting the outcomes of the workshop and for creating dialogue between and across communities and groups.
1. At the end of the workshop itself, inviting others (peers, leaders, coordinators) to respond (see Appendix 2 for a ShowEd postcard template or you can chose a different method).
2. At the venue chosen to allow the art to reach those who can help the actions demanded by the participants. Respondents could again use the ShowEd postcard template in Appendix 2 or you could design another feedback method.
3. Online in a virtual exhibition in which different workshop groups will be coming together. There will be an embedded response process to allow those attending the virtual exhibition to respond to the artworks.
The aim is to invite responses to each stage of the exhibitions to allow the connecting of communities and cultural heritages.
Reflection: Identify the implications of these stages for your planning.
- How will you facilitate the responses to artworks created in the workshops?
- How will you collate / store / transport the artworks ready for the physical exhibition and digitalise them for the virtual exhibition?
- What considerations do you need to make to anonymity of the making groups when their work is shared physically or online at the exhibitions?
- What method will you use to collate responses to the artworks at the exhibition venue? What materials, resources do you need to make this effective?
