Recognising contributions: Principle 8 A legacy of activism

Principle 8: Art for Action will aim to create a legacy of community activism to adapt and mitigate against climate change.

Strengthened understandings, communications and activism

It is hoped that this project develops multigenerational understandings of climate change in relation to the local area. Through sharing in dialogue about the issues, drawing on local heritage and languages, it is hoped that the legacy of this project will be longer term activism that is co-created across communities.

Digital badges

All involved with these workshops will have made contributions to the process and outputs, whether yourselves as organisers, those you have recruited to help as facilitators and the participants in the workshops. As these are events which have advocated for voice, there are a set of Open Digital Badges available to award to those who have contributed to this activism. Any one person could be eligible for more than one digital badge, according to the criteria set out in Appendix 1. Permission will be needed for the email addresses of those eligible to be passed to the team member at the Open University.

More information about this process will be provided here shortly.

Reflection: Ongoing legacies of this initial project

  • Do you see opportunity to develop and extend the project work through other initiatives in the future? If so, what can you imagine happening in this space?
  • As a coordinator, how will you keep in touch with the groups involved, to understand and hear about ongoing legacies of this work?
  • What digital badges do you imagine would apply to those involved in the project?
  • How will you collate email addresses and permissions to share these at the end of the project?

On the final page of this guide we will consider the next steps that you will need to take to set up your Art for Action event(s).
