Course learning outcomes
After studying this course, you should be able to:
describe people's physical appearance and personality
make comparisons using come / quanto and più di / meno di
use reading skills in Italian
imagine a character and write a short description of them.
This course was surprisingly badly put together. I had correct answers marked wrong because I put a full stop after them, not having noticed there was already one there. It was often not clear exactly what was being asked, and some of the "model answers" were not even relevant to the question (for instance, where the question was to say in what ways pairs of people in a cartoon were similar, the model answer contained differences as well, which had not been asked for). When I was asked to search for certain words in a text sample, they sometimes weren't there. Finally, describing the three people in the photo at the end was extremely difficult because it was a small monochrome photo, so there was not enough information (and, in any case, how am I supposed to describe someone's character from a photo?). Oh, yes, and there was a good deal of overlap in some of the activities where you had to match answers, so matching the answer to the text required a certain amount of mind-reading as well as language knowledge. I'm disappointed.
