Here is my blog post for today: http://insights.nursekillam.com/oer/day1/
As one of eCampusOntario's Open Fellows, I have spent a lot of time over the past few months exploring what open education means to me in this blog. I still believe what is in the video below, but my awareness of the open education landscape and possibilities has evolved.
If I was going to summarise my current understanding of open education in one word it would be: opportunity. In Ontario, open education has tremendous opportunities for educators, students, and institutions. When one breaks out of artificial boundaries placed on them by closed learning environments amazing things can happen. Currently, I am exploring these opportunities as both an advocate for open education on campus and an educator. I am excited to hear from my students in September what they would like to engage in for BSN4416. If they are willing, we will unlock some of the potential that open education has to offer together.
