I found this particular jpeg on https://www.fhsu.edu/oer/
When I first began working with OER in 2014, this jpeg described what I thought about OER perfectly.
The 5 R's are on point and exactly describe in simple language, to me, what OER is.
That green quoted part in the middle...
OER is supposed to be free. I have learned over the years as I work with OER that that is not necessarily true, even though I want it to be.
We have found at our institution that in order to sustain our OER efforts, there is a cost associated with it.
We have also been burned by groups that are curators of OER, but really are selling our materials for a profit.
Regardless of my change in point of view over the years, I will still always continue to use OER.
