Both patients had a generally positive experience of their care. Cath appreciated the concept of a "one stop shop" for all her questions. She described the contrast between hospital and community care, with inpatient care being more efficient. When she had to chase the equipment referral in the community it did raise concerns regarding staff being aware of the timings when dealing with MND patients. Cath stressed the importance of communication between colleagues.
Nicholas expressed the importance of everyone "singing off the same hymn sheet", with everyone involved in his care having the same goals. He benefited from having one point of call, the MND OT, who is able to visit him at home. He felt his decision were his own, and that he was advised and not persuaded and he appreciated honesty. He discussed dignity and the importance of having his own bedroom rather than sleeping in the lounge and being supported to form memories when he was mobile. Having this level of support made him feel safe.
