This course, first published in January 2022, was written by Alan Denton for the Institute of Physics (IOP), with much help from Nicky Thomas, Devinder Gill, Jessica Hamer and Rachel Hartley.

James de Winter has provided invaluable guidance on this course, and for many prior iterations of subject knowledge courses. 

Many people working for and with the IOP have directly and indirectly contributed to this course. Ally Davies led the IOP response as the nationwide education support they offer went online in response to Covid, and he was supported by a large team.
