THE HOW

To ensure practical applicability during teaching, the course used the following strategies:

  • 1️⃣ Real teaching-related needs: Using a Human-Centered Design (HCD) approach, we focused on understanding real classroom challenges, and delivering them according to the principles of adult learning, making the course interactive, visual, practical, and grounded in the teacher's and learners' experiences.

  • 2️⃣ Built by teachers for teachers: Teachers were in the lead of choices throughout development to ensure the course fits their needs, and tested both the content, modalities, and layout for clarity and user-friendliness.

  • 3️⃣ Contextual, Practical and Inspirational: Featuring Ugandan role models and accents, the course brings together best practices from lower secondary teachers in Rwenzori, West-Nile, and Busoga regions. It is mobile-friendly with short texts, short videos, audios, practical exercises and peer-to-peer exchange moments in the blog-section.
