This research was exploring the child’s experience of early intervention activities. John continued with this work, by taking the approach into early years settings to explore opportunities for friendship.

As you watch this video make notes in your notebook about the 4 perspectives and what each one involves. For future reference you may find it helpful to title these notes 'Activity 1.1'.

Write down questions and concerns you may have about each perspective and the overall approach and how you might work with it. Are there particular challenges you envisage because of the children and families you work with or the resources you have at your disposal? Are there particular opportunities that you can see this approach providing to you and other family support workers? Does its origins as a research approach influence your views of its relevance as a practical tool for practitioners?
