A warm welcome to this introductory course on open educational resources (OER). The course is crafted by Dr. Munir Moosa, an Assistant Professor at Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Pakistan. It was produced as part of a Charles Wallace Visiting Fellowship as a collaboration between SMI University with The Open University, UK, under the guidance of Dr. Leigh-Anne Perryman, Associate Director (Curriculum) in the Institute of Educational Technology at the Open University, UK.
This course is particularly designed for teachers and learners located in Pakistan and over 75 Asian and European countries. The course is intended to enhance your understanding of the power and potential of OER as a means of supporting inclusive learning and innovative teaching. It encourages you to create knowledge in the realm of open education and is intended to foster possible collaborations between participants.
This course has adopted a minimalistic approach to enhance participants' basic knowledge and understanding of OER with clarity and precision, avoiding unnecessary complexity.
This course is supplemented with a teaching/facilitating guide that includes activities suitable for use in classrooms.
